**A note from the Student Council:

Good evening parents and guardians.

The St. Jude's community places a lot of emphasis on giving and conducting acts of charity. In light of the Christmas season which is fast approaching, we are happy to announce that we collaborating with Peel Regional Police for their 'Toys for Tots' charity. We will be conducting a toy drive from December 7th to December 21st. Members of the St. Jude's community may donate new, unwrapped toys, cash or Canadian Tire money to make an underprivileged child's Christmas one to remember. All proceeds will be handed over directly to Peel Regional Police on December 21st. We are also pleased to announce the Toys for Tots charity is the first major project our Student Council will be conducting this academic year.

Toys can be donated at the front desk by placing them under the Christmas tree. There will be a tracking sheet provided to record the student who donated. Upon collecting the toys, a police officer will allow one lucky student to pie him/her in the face. As such, it is important to record the names of each student to give everyone a chance. Alternatively, toys may be handed to class teachers. To educate our PYP students about the importance of giving, house points will be awarded for each toy donated.

We look forward to your donations, all of which will be greatly appreciated.

Tis the season for joy, happiness, love, and sharing. Have a Merry Christmas!

Thank you.

Working Wednesday

Hello parents and students,

I hope everyone is having a great evening so far. Today in math, we started off the day by learning all about angles and connecting them with convex and concave. Just in case you missed it. Here is the great video from yesterday that goes through all of this!

In language, the students worked on their language summative. They have been working very hard and the students are switching over to their good copies now!

In UOI, we did our logo guesses! The students had fun guessing each other logos. Then, we nominated the best ones and did a class vote. Miriam won gold, Julian got Silver, and Bianca got Bronze! Overall, the class did so well that they ALL won targets/Timbits! Well done!! Here are some pictures of them going around and the projects from the three winners.

Our biggest task of the day was prepping for Christmas concert, Mme Stella and Mr. Oliver ran two rehearsals today to go through with the students. Our main task is to practice tonight because the concert is next week!  Time is flying by :) Here is a sneak peek of the singers!

Reminders/Homework

  • Language: Spelling Lesson # 14
  • Think of Christmas Door Decorating ideas

Turning Tuesday

Hello parents and students,

Today was a very exciting and fun filled day. We started the day with math where we checked our answers with our group and then we learned about naming polygons/sides and classifying figures just like we do in science. Here is a great video that goes through all these concepts.

Next, the students got a chance to work on the language summative, they are starting to really come together and I am excited to see how they turn out.

In UOI, the students worked on the Kingdom Logo Project. Here are some pictures from today.

Most students finished but if they did not finish, it is due for tomorrow. Besides the logo, they also have to have the describe all their Kingdom and all the parts of their logo. For example, I chose the Kingdom Monera. In my logo, I have only 1 cell because Monera are all unicellular. They should have a sentence for each of their characteristics.

At the end of the day, we got to watch the amazing Christmas Concert for the K-2 classes, where we had a special performance from our choir girls!! Here is a picture from their performance. Good job girls!

Reminders/Homework

  • Math: Finish Naming polygons/shapes and Classifying Figures sheets (TEST DATE IS MONDAY, December 18)
  • Language: Spelling Lesson # 14
  • UOI: Finish Kingdom Logo project (remember description)
  • Think of Christmas Door Decorating ideas
  • Practice for Christmas concert!!!!
  • French: Practice conjugation of faire/aller/etre/avoir
