Hello parents and students,
Today, we started our busy day by having an assembly about the toy drive and book fair. With the days getting closer to Christmas, there is a lot of excitement in the air.
In math, we review our angles worksheets with tables discussions. The new lesson was all about triangles. We first learned all about the importance of triangles. Then we watched a video, here is the link, and we filled in a graphic organizer. For homework, the students have to measure and classify triangles. They will needs rulers and protractors. Here is another video that may help students, it said a song all about triangle classification!
In UOI, we started by watching a video about biodiversity and how amazing it can be! Here is the link. Next, we learned about the importance of classification and filled in an organizer while watching this video. The students were challenged to come up with create a pneumonic that would help with remember the levels of classification. There were some amazing entries but the winners were Bianca and David! The students then learned about scientific names and dichotomous keys. Tonight's homework is to finish both sides of the dichotomous key worksheet. Here are some pictures of the children working hard!
At the end of the day, the students all started getting ready for their student led conferences, which are tomorrow!
Student-led conferences: Just to clarify, the interviews are conducted by your child. This is their opportunity to showcase all the work they have been doing and how they can improve. I will be there to facilitate but it is all about your child. The interview slots are only 10 minutes. After this, if you feel you would still like to speak to me about any further questions or concerns, I will be more than happy to set up another meeting time with you.
