Museum Monday

Hello parents and students,

I am so sorry this was not posted last night because I got sick. 😟

It was an amazing and fun museum that we had today. All the curators worked very hard together to create a museum in the classroom including making signs, raffle tickets, paper chains, and flyers. It was also great to see so many classes, parents and even grandparents come join us to support us. Thank you for all your support.

Here are some pictures from the event.

Trying it out Thursday

Hello parents and students,

Today, the children had the chance to spend the day working on their artefact summative because we did a 'democratic' vote this morning and so we will be completing our math pre-assessment for geometry. The students have to finish their artefact and write-up by today. They are getting very excited and have been working very hard. So we have decided to make our museum as open house. Therefore, on
Monday, November 27 from 3:00pm - 3:30pm we are opening our museum to all parents! You can come see their amazing work and then you can pick them up directly from there (preferably the earliest at 3:30pm because they can then display their artefact to other people.

**Idea for open museum goes to Dr. Lynne :)

Here are some pictures from today (sorry I would have had more but my phone ran out of space).

Also, the St.Jude's science fair is being held on Thursday, November 30.

By tomorrow, all students should have their materials and will be building their artefacts. As a reminder, this is at school summative which is due this Friday. Here are some pictures of the students working effectively.

Good Start Monday

Hello Parents and Students,

Today, we started our day off with reviewing Money to $10, 000 in math; where the students were estimating, it didn't matter whether the students rounded to 50 to 100 as long as they rounded both the numbers to the same place value.

Next, we learned about temperature (°C) and we researched the average range of temperature in Mississauga. The students then worked on the temperature worksheet in class. For homework, the students have a math review packet, for tomorrow the students must complete page 1 and 2. If they complete the entire packet then tomorrow we will play math review games. The tentative date for the math test is Wednesday.

In language, the students completed their literature circles for chapter 9-12 of Percy Jackson. They did a great job of discussing with their groups and adding extra details in their answer.

In UOI, we completed a 4-minute brainstorm activity as part of the design cycle (artefact summative). Here are some pictures from the activity.

We then created a class list of what our museum will look like next Monday. Here is a picture of the board afterwards.

The rest of the period was spent on students researching and designing their artefact. Some students have even started making it! Students should bring in materials to build their artefact by tomorrow.
