Hello parents and students,
It is the end of the week (for you)! Today, we started off the day with a Remembrance Day assembly led by the MYP. We then came back to class and completed spelling test # 9.
Next in math, we completed our table discussions. The students did really well on last nights homework. Then, we started a note on volume and 'cubic centimeters'. We will continue Volume on Monday. For tonight's homework, the students' just have to complete sheet 114 and can try sheet number 117. Sheet number 114 introduces students' to counting 'cubes' and then they use a mat plan to count cubes from the top. There is an example below.
Next, the students' got a chance to get together with their ancient civilization group members and practice their projects. After recess, the students' presented. They did such an amazing job this week teaching lesson that I had teachers, students, and other staff stopping just to listen to them! This week to help teach their lessons: the Aztecs created a movie, the Ancient Egyptians wrote a story (Google Doc), the Ancient Greeks created anchor charts (with pictures), and the Ancient Romans created a powerpoint presentation (Google Slides). Here are some pictures from their lessons.

After UOI, we had art. We wanted to commemorate Remembrance Day by creating art about peace. The students were given a paper dove and they had to write 'what peace feels like..' to them. Afterwards, they had to create artwork around the dove to emphasize the dove (principal of art). They did this by using colour and pattern. The students that did not finish have it for homework. They have all been given rubrics to show how they will be marked. Here are some examples of the pieces finished so far.
