Kindness Monday

Hello parents and students,

Today is kindness day! Each of the students that brought in a townie got a chance to write a kind message on a leaf for Oakwood's kindness tree.

In math today, we started off with a discussion table review of the homework and then we went through how to calculate volume. The equation for volume is V=l x h x w and the answer has to be in cubic centimetres. Here is a video that introduces the concept.

In language, we had our 2nd literature circle. The students did a great job of discussing with their groups. I reminded the students to check the rubrics and self-evaluation at the bottom of the page so that they can make sure 'get' a level 4.

In UOI, the students brainstormed for our week 3 lessons (environment and architecture) and then they started their individual research. The research is due tomorrow.

**Lockdowns – Today we went over what to do if we needed to be in a lockdown situation. There was a lot of questions but hopefully no one is too concerned. I reassured them as best as I could that it was just a practice, just like we do for fire drills. We will be having lockdown practice drills throughout the year. Please let me know if there are any questions.**

**A note on parking - Please do not park or stop in the handicap spots, unless you have a permit. Please pass this message to anyone who may pick up your children. Those spots are reserved for our families who need them. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.**

Have a great night,

Ms.Khan
