Dear parents and students,
I hope everyone had a great weekend, I feel like it flew by. In math today, we started with our usual math table discussions after which we learned all about thousandths. The students also reviewed expanded form and word form but with decimals. In the second sheet of math, the students then compared and ordered by thousandths.
In language, the students got their new novel study, Hatchet and we read the first chapter. I also handed out the literature circle package and the first literature circle role is due Monday, January 22.
The students then worked on their OREO speech organizer.
In UOI, we finished our final presentations, the students did an excellent job and all their projects have been marked. Next, we discussed the importance of animal phyla and specially chordata. This led into our next topic, food chain and food webs and how organisms are interconnected. We began by doing a mini-quiz on vocal (herbivore, carnivore, and omnivore) and then we watched a clip from the Lion King and created a food chain out of it. Tomorrow, we will continue this.
