Fundraiser Friday

Good evening Parents and Students

As I tallied up our fundraiser totals, I was thrilled to find so many students participating in our Spring Fundraiser next week. For more information and important dates please see below our daily activities and homework.

Daily Activities:

In Mathematics today, the students completed their quiz on Transformational Geometry. The paperwork for the Summative Assignment was handed out and explained.

Here are some helpful tutorials that may provide students with some ideas:

In Literature today, the students completed their Spelling Test which was a review of Lessons 19-24 and handed in their Spelling Workbook. I also marked and returned their first Literature Circle Assignment.

In our Unit of Inquiry today, the students continued working on their "Take A Stand" Assignment. Ms. Walls and I have agreed that for those students wiling to put in a lot of effort to produce high quality work, and are willing to put in extra time (such as recess) to make their letter more formal, then we are willing to mail their letters to the appropriate municipal, provincial or federal government members.

Homework:

Language:
Literature Circle homework. We are on Week 2 covering Chapters 4-8 in Shannen and the Dream for a School. Some students also need to complete last week's Literature Circle homework as well. Please ensure that students are reading the instructions on the page when completing their roles.

Math:
There is no homework in Mathematics, as we are working on the Summative Assignment. If any students brought home their rough copy, they are not to work on it please. If they have already done so, it needs to be independent work or the student will have to begin again. I must initial their rough copy before they can start the next section.

UOI:
Research for the "Take A Stand" Assignment. Students need to determine which government department would be responsible for their social issue, so that their persuasive letter can be addressed properly. They also need evidence to defend their reasons for why their social issue needs to be supported. Again, I need to initial their graphic organizer before their can begin their rough copy of their letter.

Reminders:

As a reminder: St.Jude's Academy is now affiliated with an official soccer club called St. Jude's FC. Students of St.Jude are given a 33% discount that will allow them to join the club and play competitively with other soccer clubs this spring and summer (starting most likely April to September). The students will be working with excellent coaches and going to competitions on the weekend. Practices will be held (most likely) right after school twice a week. In April, besides the soccer field, the students will have a chance to play in our official soccer dome! I think this is a great opportunity!! The students have been given forms (I can e-mail extras), they should try to submit the form as soon as possible.
