Rocking Wednesday!

Today, in Math class we took up the answers to our Transformational Geometry Quiz Review and I handed back the JumpMath page on Similar Figures. We took up both pages in class today and several questions were demonstrated on the whiteboard. To help the students be better prepared, I gave them an additional worksheet on Transformations that is due tomorrow (Thursday April 12th).

We had some time before our trip and I choose to hand out the "Take A Stand" Assignments. We went over the assignment and several students had their topic approved. Any student with an approved topic may start researching.

Our class had the opportunity to sit in on a Careers Presentation from the St. Jude's Academy Student Council. We listened to several different career areas presented by some very informative speakers. We heard about STEM, Money & Finance, Health Sciences and Legal & Government career paths. This presentation was held during Language Arts and French classes.

In the afternoon, we went rock climbing or "bouldering" at the Cave. The students listened intently to their instructors as they learned how to climb properly and how to fall safely. Then they had many opportunities to try their hand at climbing. It was a great afternoon!

Schedule Change: Day 6 instead of Day 1
Tentative Date planned for UOI Quiz on Canadian Government

As you may be aware, there was a tragic accident that occurred in Saskatchewan on Friday evening. The Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team was involved in an accident while travelling by bus to one of their playoff games, claiming the lives of 15 people and injuring many others. Around the country and world, organizations have shown their support to these victims, their families, and the Humboldt community. Here at St. Jude’s Academy, we strive to have students apply the learner profile attributes and attitudes not only through their studies at school, but in their community. St. Jude’s would like to show our support for the victims and their families by sending our students to school on Thursday, April 12th, wearing their favourite sports jersey to honour the Humboldt Broncos. The school will be holding a short assembly and a moment of silence on Thursday morning for Grades 3-12 to honour these players, coaches, and families.

A note from Arts Night- We are asking that each student bring in a picture from their childhood…it can be of any change (baby, toddler, young child, etc). Please send in all pictures no later than April 20th. Thank you in advance!

As a reminder: St.Jude's Academy is now affiliated with an official soccer club called St. Jude's FC. Students of St.Jude are given a 33% discount that will allow them to join the club and play competitively with other soccer clubs this spring and summer (starting most likely April to September). The students will be working with excellent coaches and going to competitions on the weekend. Practices will be held (most likely) right after school twice a week. In April, besides the soccer field, the students will have a chance to play in our official soccer dome! I think this is a great opportunity!! The students have been given forms (I can e-mail extras), they should try to submit the form as soon as possible.
