Ice Cream Sundae Day

Good evening Parents and Students

Tomorrow is our Dance Party with Treat Bar
For those attending the Dance Party, bring some change, so you may enjoy the Treat Bar to be held at the Party. Those attending also enjoy an extra casual day.

Those not attending may choose to wear Earth colours (browns, greens, blues) in honour of Earth Spirit Day. Those who choose not to participate need to be in their proper uniform.

For Arts Night: Tomorrow is the Last Day to Send in Pictures Please.
We are asking that each student bring in a recent and childhood picture. Please send in all pictures no later than April 20th. Thank you in advance!

Great job today by Jasper in Ms. Smith’s class and Surkhab in Ms. Samuel’s class for bringing in the most money for Spring Fundraiser. Because of that, they got to pie not only Mr. Foster in the face, but also Ms. Samuel!!

Ice Cream Sundae Day
Several students participated in our sundae day and got to enjoy 2 scoops of either chocolate or vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce.

In Mathematics today we started our new unit on Patterns in Multiplication. Students have 1 page of Math to complete. We will be taking up the answers in class tomorrow.

In Language Arts today we started discussing Narrative stories with a focus on Picture Books. We listened to Clark the Shark read online by Chris Pine. Then we discussed the different parts of Picture Books and what makes them effective. From there, we discussed the different aspects of plot and what type of book you would have if any of those aspects were missing.

In UOI today, we discussed the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. I handed out a Reading Comprehension Package with discussion questions.

Homework:

Language:
Spelling List #25 and Workbook Exercises
Read Chapters 12 of our Novel

Math:
1 page of Mathematics called "Patterns in Multiplication".

UOI:
Please finish reading the pages I handed out and then make sure you answer your individual parts to the discussion question for tomorrow's class. You should have written down the answer to the following questions.
     a. What rights and freedoms are important to you?
     b. What rights and freedoms are important to your family?
     c. What rights and freedoms are important to your friends?

Tomorrow we will discuss in our table groups what rights and freedoms are important to your table group.

Reminders:

Please send in the last page of your report card with your comments and signature. Thank you very much!

Permission Forms for YMCA Cedar Glen Trip to be signed and returned as soon as possible.

SPRING FUNDRAISER!!!!! Our annual Spring Fundraiser started today Tuesday April 17 to Monday April 23. All of the funds raised this year will go towards improving technology for our classrooms.

For students who collect a minimum of $35, they will get to enjoy a morning or afternoon at Kidsport. Please use the pledge sheet provided and be sure to turn in on a daily basis! Daily prizes for the most amount of money brought in are; bonus casual days, getting to sit at your teacher’s desk for a day, or shooting Mr. Foster with a Nerf gun. School wide fundraising targets will allow students the opportunity to water balloon their teachers. So, get out there SJA, and raise some money!!!!!

Choir Students Here is a link to your song provided by Ms. Ross

As a reminder: St.Jude's Academy is now affiliated with an official soccer club called St. Jude's FC. Students of St.Jude are given a 33% discount that will allow them to join the club and play competitively with other soccer clubs this spring and summer (starting most likely April to September). The students will be working with excellent coaches and going to competitions on the weekend. Practices will be held (most likely) right after school twice a week. In April, besides the soccer field, the students will have a chance to play in our official soccer dome! I think this is a great opportunity!! The students have been given forms (I can e-mail extras), they should try to submit the form as soon as possible.
