Pancake Day

Good evening Parents and Students

Today was Pancake day and our Literature time was taken up enjoying pancakes. (Pictures to follow).

Today in Mathematics, I gave the students an extra period to finish up their Math Summative. Tomorrow we are starting a new unit. Those students who were finished worked on their UOI, if that was not completed.

We had Reading Buddies today as well during our UOI time. The students really enjoy reading with the younger students.

In UOI today we had a lesson on "Canadian Citizenship" and took the Canadian Citizenship Quiz. Several of the students found the Quiz challenging. Then we watched a couple of videos on what it means to be a Canadian Citizen to different people.

Language:
Spelling List #25 and Workbook Exercises
Read Chapters 11 of our Novel

Math:
Math Summative Good Copy was due today at the end of the day. Some students are not quite finished and although they stayed in at recess, they did not finish. I gave them permission to bring it home as long as their Rough Copy was complete and initialed by me. Just a reminder that this is to be independent work only.

A complete Math Summative, includes the Rubric, their Good Copy Mosaic which is fully coloured and their written component either typed or written neatly. All of these items are to be submitted tomorrow morning at the latest.

UOI:
1. 2 Sentences on what it means to be a Canadian Citizen due for class tomorrow (Thursday April 19th)

2. "Take a Stand" Good Copy Letters are due tomorrow (Wednesday April 18) by day end. I am expecting their Graphic Organizer, their Peer Editing Sheet, their Rubric with the Self Assessment filled out, and their Rough Copy to be attached. If they are emailing their Good Copy, then I expect the rest of the papers to be turned in separately, but still tomorrow.

Reminders:

For Arts Night: We are asking that each student bring in a recent and childhood picture. Please send in all pictures no later than April 20th. Thank you in advance!

Please send in the last page of your report card with your comments and signature. Thank you very much!

NOW our total is $8000!!! One lucky student got to give Mr. Rosario a makeover today. Let's keep those funds coming. Another student got the chance to shoot Mr. Foster with a nerf gun today as well! (Pictures to follow)

For students who collect a minimum of $35, they will get to enjoy a morning or afternoon at Kidsport. Please use the pledge sheet provided and be sure to turn in on a daily basis! Daily prizes for the most amount of money brought in are; bonus casual days, getting to sit at your teacher’s desk for a day, or shooting Mr. Foster with a Nerf gun. School wide fundraising targets will allow students the opportunity to give Mr. Rozario a makeup lesson or water balloon their teachers. So, get out there SJA, and raise some money!!!!!

Choir Students Here is a link to your song provided by Ms. Ross

As a reminder: St.Jude's Academy is now affiliated with an official soccer club called St. Jude's FC. Students of St.Jude are given a 33% discount that will allow them to join the club and play competitively with other soccer clubs this spring and summer (starting most likely April to September). The students will be working with excellent coaches and going to competitions on the weekend. Practices will be held (most likely) right after school twice a week. In April, besides the soccer field, the students will have a chance to play in our official soccer dome! I think this is a great opportunity!! The students have been given forms (I can e-mail extras), they should try to submit the form as soon as possible.
