Mayhem Monday

Hello parents and students,

I hope everyone is having a great afternoon so far. We had a busy day in class today! We started off with our math quiz and then we completed our pre-assessment for the next math unit: perimeter and area.

After French, we completed our literature circles and then did our spelling test.

For UOI today, we started coding! We began by discussing the central idea, lines of inquiry, the learner profiles, attitudes, and concepts for the UOI. We then completed KWL charts to assess how much the students already know. Next, we watched a video that introduced us to coding. Here is the link.  We then started discussing the importance of coding and watched this video.  The students then got a chance to try coding themselves by going on www.code.org and play some coding games. It was a great introduction into coding. In this unit. there will be two summative projects,  a research based project with a presentation and a creative game component.

Tomorrow, we will be going to YMCA Cedar Glen as part of physical eduction. The students must be at school by 7:45am latest. They have to wear St.Jude's gym uniform and bring a jacket, hat, sunscreen, and water bottle. We are scheduled to be back at 4:00pm. The students will be provided a lunch but may bring extra snacks. Also, devices are NOT allowed at the site, so please do not bring any to school tomorrow.
