Dear parents and students,
I hope you are having a great evening so far. Today, we began our day with math and our new unit. The students have new math duotangs, that they have to use for the rest of the year. We learned about conversions and going from Kilo- to milli- in grams, metres, and litres. Here is a video that we watched in class. We then practiced questions in class and for homework, the students have to complete two practice worksheets. Here is a video if the students get stuck on the conversions. The key is to use the chart and move the decimals to the right and left. Also, to clarify Hectameter is 'hm' and Dekameter is 'Dm' or 'Dam'.
In language, we started our 'surprise' week 6. Our project is to create Cree art based on Shannen. Today, the students started their research and have to find 2 pieces of art that reflect the Cree culture. Tomorrow, we will be selecting which pieces the class will create.
This afternoon, we watched the MYP Shakespeare inspired play, held at MIST theatre. It was a great experience for the students and I highly recommend you watch it tomorrow while the student's attend the dance!! Here are some pictures.
