Presentation Wednesday

Dear parents and students,

I hope everyone is having a great day so far. We had a very busy day at school today. We started our day with math; first the students completed their round table discussion for last nights homework. Afterwards, we learned our last topic for this unit, SURFACE AREA of rectangular and triangular prisms. Here is a video that explains each of the concepts. We also looked at examples in class today, here are some concept review examples.

The students may choose to use an equation, use a net or do both in order to solve the problem, however they must show their equations used, all calculations and final units with their answer in order to get full marks. The final test for this unit will be next Tuesday.

In language, we looked into how to properly describe the setting of a narrative story. The students had to describe scenarios using all their senses. Here is an example below.

For homework tonight, the students need to pick 1 picture from the selection below and describe it using 'senses; there must be at least 3-4 senses used in the description. Also, the students needs to use  at least 1 simile and 1 metaphor. Tomorrow the students will try to guess each others pictures, so do not tell anyone what you select.

In UOI today, we watched presentations for Project 101. The students have all done a great job of not only researching different coding programs and explaining them in their presentation but also of trying out a new software and creating beautiful presentations. The links to the presentations can be found in the Classroom. Please go and have a look at the different presentations (only copy and paste the link please).

Also, throughout the day we practiced for our Arts' night concert. Today, the students discussed costumes with their partners and they must start putting the costumes together and bring them in for Friday.
