Hello parents and students,
We had
another great day today; we first started off with math where we did a group
take-up session of last night’s mental math homework. I saw some really great
discussions and math strategies being used. Next, we started our lesson on
Order of Operation. This year, the students have to learn BMDAS (brackets,
multiplication. division, addition, subtraction). They do not need to know
exponents, but we did discuss it as a class together. In class, we all came up
with different ways to remember the order; one example from today is Bat Man
Does A Somersault. We will continue Order of Operations tomorrow as well.
In UOI, we watched
a video on variables, here is the link, and then we worked together on figuring
out the independent, dependent, and control variables in different situations.
The students also started working in groups to get their results. Tomorrow, we
will continue our discussion on variables and the scientific method.
In gym today, the
children played a great game of capture the flag. There is a picture below, for
the rest of the pictures please visit Mr.Beresford blog. Also, please note that
tomorrow students will be getting permission forms for a field trip to the
driving range on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017 (morning) with Mr. Beresford.
